Introduction to Tea, is the first module of the European Speciality Tea Association´s education initiative, the Tea Certification Programme. Our aim is to provide the leading authoritative tea education programme in Europe and beyond. This course is a standalone Introduction to Tea, but it provides the necessary background to develop your skills through other modules at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced level. Introduction to Tea is an ideal course for anyone who is new to the tea industry or just wants to know more about this amazing beverage: Newbies to speciality tea, Cafés, tea houses, baristas, tea enthusiasts, new tea businesses. TEA IS MORE THAN A BEVERAGE This course has been designed to combine theory and practical activities where the student can learn and practice new skills on the day. Students will receive tea, and herbal samples to conduct the practical activities. The duration of the course is 6.5 hours (9.30 to 16.00) including practical activities, time for breaks and lunch. After completion of the module, trainees will agree with the ATC on a date for the Introduction to Tea online written exam. The exam must be completed directly after the course or within 14 days. The students have two attempts without extra cost. The 30 questions multiple-choice exam usually takes around 17 minutes. Certification is awarded to students that achieve 70% and above. Upon completion of the Introduction to Tea module, and the achievement of satisfactory results in the test, participants will be awarded 5 points toward the Tea Certification Program. The ESTA signed certificate will be sent by email. Students can then decide which module will take next, and where and when by discussing with the ATC and visiting the ESTA website.
