Service Description

Introduction to Tea for Hospitality is the second module of the European Speciality Tea Association Tea Certification Programme. Our aim is to provide the leading authoritative tea education programme in Europe and beyond. This course is a standalone Introduction to Tea, but it provides the necessary background to develop your skills through other modules at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Introduction to Tea for Hospitality is an ideal course for professionals at the beginning of their careers in the hospitality sector. WHAT THIS COURSE WILL TEACH YOU? 1. What is tea? Six categories of tea 2. What is a botanical? 3. The importance of water when brewing tea 4. Teabag v loose leaf tea 5. Teaware in hospitality, pros and cons 6. How to store your tea 7. Temperature and timings, the influence in the taste. 8. Level of standards for tea in each hospitality sector. 9. The Art of recommendations and brewing tea. 10. Tea and food pairing for hospitality This course has been designed to combine theory and practical activities where the student can learn and practice new skills on the day. Students will receive tea, and herbal samples to conduct the practical activities. The duration of the course is 6.5 hours (9.30 to 16.00) including practical activities, time for breaks and lunch. After completion of the module, trainees will agree with the ATC on a date for the Introduction to Tea for Hospitality online written exam. The exam must be completed directly after the course or within 10 days. The students have one attempt without extra cost. Upon completion of the Introduction to Tea module, and the achievement of satisfactory results in the test, participants will be awarded 5 points toward the Tea Certification Program. The ESTA signed certificate will be sent by email. Students can then decide which module will take next, and where and when by discussing with the ATC and visiting the ESTA website. The course will be delivered on the premises of Coffee Laboratory at 93 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin, D02 Y588.
